Favorite Healthy Snacks

I sit at a desk all day for 8 whole hours. I wore a step counter pedometer thing for a few weeks and found out that my average walking distance in a day is like 3 miles tops. There is no way my metabolism could keep up with me eating Oreos with peanut butter every day so I decided to start making better choices. Here are some healthy choices that are not hard to make because they are so delicious.

Jolly Time Healthy Pop Kettle Corn
The first time I bought this it was an accident. I didn't mean to buy the healthy kind, I just grabbed one. One day at work I randomly checked to see how many calories were in it. It's 100. 100 calories for the ENTIRE BAG! This is not one of those sissy mini bags, this is a full on regular sized popcorn bag. If you are bored and want to eat something, this is it. It takes forever to finish the whole thing. And it tastes super delicious. It's a combo of salty and sweet. MY FAVORITE!

Edamame
I don't know why they gave it such a fancy name because it's just soy beans. So much stuff is made out of soy beans yet for some reason I had never seen an actual soy bean until about a year ago. These babies look exactly like snap peas but DO NOT BE FOOLED! The outside of the bean tastes disgusting if you chew it and is kind of hairy (Gross. You will only understand after you see them...it kind of reminds me of a peach). Anyway, these are so fun to eat! You put the whole pod in your mouth, pop out the beans, then discard the pod. They are super high in protein (12g of protein for a 140 calorie, 8oz serving) and are easy to make by popping them in the microwave to steam. Add a little sea salt and you are set!

These individual packs can be tough to find. Sam's Club is the only place I have seen this specific brand.

Banana + Peanut Butter
Ok, I know peanut butter isn't great for you but in moderation, it can be just fine! When I find myself really, really hungry, this is what I eat. One banana sliced up and distributed with about a tablespoon of peanut butter is so incredibly filling! For about 200 calories you have a full tummy for hours.

Hot Chocolate
If you are a chocolate craver like myself, it's hard to always say no. That's why I say yes to hot chocolate! I think it's a great alternative for a choco craving and is always under 100 calories. Sometimes I even get a little adventurous and add it to my coffee! SO good!
