The Gospel in Simple Terms

This year I made an Easter scene with an old film tin, some succulents, rocks, billy buttons from our wedding and some mulch I took from our yard (don't tell the landlord, I will put it back)! My inspiration for the "Easter garden" came from this blog.

Today I want to explain the most important thing in my life. This is the source of my joy, my peace, my hope and I don't share it nearly enough.

This is the Gospel.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." You, me, Gracie, the grass, the sky, the ocean, everything you see, feel and smell was created by God. You have been created with purpose.

When he was finished, "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."

Adam and Eve had only one rule to follow: do not eat fruit from the forbidden tree. Satan convinced them to do so, and they were no longer perfect in God's eyes. At this moment, sin entered the world and there was a separation placed between God and us.

We are just like Adam and Eve. We are sinful, and do things for our own benefit, rather than our Creator's.

There are 3 things you should know:
1. God loves you very, very much
2. God cannot be around sin
3. We are all sinful

This creates a big problem. How can we get to God if he can't be around us? The answer is Jesus Christ. God sent a part of himself, in the form of a man, to live a perfect life and bridge the gap between God and us.

Sin will never go unpunished. God's justice is hard to understand sometimes. This is where Jesus comes in. He came to earth and lived a perfect life. Then Jesus WILLINGLY died on the cross in order to satisfy God's justice. He took our place so that we may reunite with God.

He loved you SO MUCH that he took full punishment for every sin you and I ever have and ever will commit. He died a perfect man for imperfect people like you and me. He is the definition of true sacrifice- to lay down your life for someone completely undeserving.

Jesus died and was buried in a tomb. Three days later, his body was gone. Jesus has risen- He has come back to life! Many great men have laid down their lives for others, but only ONE has ever conquered death. In beating death, Jesus proved that he was the son of God.

No one can live a perfect life, but because of the sacrifice of Jesus, your sins are covered. You have been paid for.

The bible says if you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that Jesus raised from the dead then YOU WILL BE SAVED!

A lot of people see Christianity as a set of rules and limitations. This couldn't be further from the truth. Through faith in Jesus you will find true freedom, hope and joy.

God has a plan for you, regardless of your past mistakes or doubts about Him. He has already paid the price for you to be free, all you need is to accept His gift.

If you have questions I would love to talk with you! Happy Easter...belated!!
