Home Makeover: My Closet

So there is this half sized room at the end of the hallway that I assume was used as a play room for the family that lived in the house before us.

Well, we don't have kids, so I claimed it as my closet! :-)

Please don't think this post is a big brag fest about my all my stuff because I know, I have a LOT of clothes and a LOT of shoes. You don't have to tell me that because my husband reminds me all the time :-)

I once claimed bargain hunting as a hobby. I still kind of think it is. I will probably always be someone to pick 3 pairs of shoes for $50 over a single, nicer pair for $50. That's probably why my selection is so large.

So here is my closet...

As far as the room goes, I didn't do a whole lot before moving my stuff in. I took the doors off of the closet to expose the area for dresses and hung some hooks on the wall for belts.

Otherwise, it was already painted powder blue and looked the exact same, foam tile ceiling and all.

My newest addition is this tiny chandelier ornament that I found for 90% off at Target after Christmas. It was supposed to hang over Gracie's food bowl, but I couldn't figure out a way to hang it without her eating it.

My mother in law works at a thrift store and snagged this awesome clothes rack for me after it was donated. Who would get rid of this!? It's the best!

Here is where I hang all my dresses and formal wear. It's normally color coordinated but I wasn't about to do all that work just to take a picture.

My bucket 'O shoes is kind of annoying. I have to completely dump it out all the time to find what I'm looking for. It just doesn't take up as much space as a shoe rack and holds way more, so I've kept it.

My banner, made by Lindy, that says "Eeee!" A common phrase of mine...

I sit on this little ottoman every morning to do my hair/makeup.

I inherited this photo of my grandma when she passed away about a month ago. On the bottom right it says "To my darling husband. Love, Claudy" Glamour shots for her hubs! Danggggggggg grandma!

I store all of my makeup and misc items in this jewelry armoire. I don't really have much jewelry, so it works out well for me.

My mom bought me this Cinderella sign a few weeks ago. A few days later, I got a job at a shoe company! "Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life."

And this dresser....full of shoes. I am ridiculous, I know.

My canvas seems appropriate right?

I know there are others out there who have a similar closet! Holla atcha girrrrrls! Any organization tips for me?

Thanks for reading!

  1. I think that the glamour shots for your hubs trend needs to make a raging comeback! Also, I hope my wife never sees this post because drool can hurt keyboards.

  2. Just now reading this blog and loving it. I have a suggestion for your shoes that I have used for twenty years. Go to the organization section of a store and find the cardboard little "dresser" that has (usually) four drawers (that is if they're still being made). I keep my shoes in FOUR of these little cardboard containers. I took pictures of all my shoes - four shoes per frame - cut them out and tape them to the drawer so I know what shoes are in each drawer. I have two or even three pair of shoes per drawer. Bonus is that one of these organizers will take up approximately the same space as your purple bucket, but you won't have to dump the shoes out in order to find the ones you want. :)

    1. I love this idea!! I have some space under the formal wear that might fit something like that. Thank you so much for the suggestion!
