Sheer Summer Makeup Routine

In the summer I like to occasionally step away from my MAC Studio Fix foundation and try a look that's a little more sheer. Here's a fast forward video of how I do my makeup and descriptions of what I've been using!

POND'S Luminous Finish BB Cream in Medium
Retail: $9.99
I don't think I've owned anything POND'S before, but it was on clearance at Target so I tried it. I have been super impressed with how matte this BB cream applies, unlike many of the others that I've used (such as Loreal Magic Skin, Garnier BB cream or Purminerals CC cream).

This runs dark! If I didn't have a decent tan, I would have bought "fair" instead of "medium"!

Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser in Neutralizer
Retail: $8.99
The is an excellent concealer for the drug store price! I prefer concealers with golden undertones, so the color "Neutralizer" works perfectly for me. By far my favorite drug store concealer.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original
Retail: $20 (or $12 for a smaller tube)
My lids are naturally oily, which causes my eyeshadow to crease. When I use this stuff, I never have creasing. Like, ever. It takes me almost a year to go through one bottle -you only need a teeny tiny bit!

MAC Eyeshadow in OMEGA
Retail: $16 (or $10 without the case)
This is an excellent eyebrow filler for blondes. It drives me nuts that so many blonde fillers carry a reddish tone, so I was happy to find OMEGA, a natural ashy shade, that I apply to my brows with a tiny brush. The brush is from TJ Maxx and is nice and stiff so I'm able to apply a sharp edge.

Before I used OMEGA, I was using Maybelline Define-a-brow in Dark Blonde (which I loved). I was flying through those things, so a MAC eyeshadow actually ended up being cheaper, since it lasts so much longer.

MAC Eyeshadow in All That Glitters (right)
Retail: $16 (or $10 without the case)
This color is absolutely perfect. A smooth golden, blush tone that applies like silk. I use it daily.
MAC Eyeshadow in Saddle (left)
This is a really warm matte brown. I like to use it in the summer to give a bronzy look.

MAC Blending Brush 286
Retail: $32
I like this brush, but I personally don't think it's worth the price. Save the money and buy a Real Techniques brush instead.

ELF All Over Color Stick in Persimmon
Retail: $1
I talked about this illuminator in my Favie Facial Highlighters post. I would normally use a more bronzy toned highlighter, but I've used up all of my bronzy favorites. Regardless, this ELF color stick does an excellent job. Especially for $1.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
Retail: $8.50
BEST BRUSH EVER. I use this to apply liquid foundation, blend in highlighters or contouring.

Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner in Blackest Black
Retail: $5.99
This liner provides rich color on a felt tip. I like not having to scrub my eyeballs to get my makeup off, so I appreciate that this stuff comes off with my Aveeno face wash with little effort (I talked about my face routine here).

Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion in Very Black
Retail: $6.99
I flip between the last blast fusion and lash blast volume (orange tube) -whichever is on sale! I think the brush on this product separates lashes SO well. I almost always use two or three coats. The brush doesn't hold much product after you use it for a few weeks.

Neutrogena Shine Control Powder
Retail: $9.99
I barely dust my forehead and nose with this stuff, but stay oil-free for hourssss. If you have especially oily skin in the summer time, this helps keep your makeup matte.

Bareminerals Full Flawless Face Brush
I sort of hate this brush. It's not soft and sheds everywhere. Try a Real Techniques brush instead!

Thank you guys for the request! Makeup reviews are always fun for me! Let me know if you have other suggestions!

Happy (end of) summer makeup-ing! :-)

  1. Beautiful post. Great advice....I will try the concealer because if it is even half as good as the beautiful song you played it will be wonderful! I now now been listening to Gungor for the past 30 minutes! Thanks for the music obsession!
