Stupid Monkey Balloons

Tonight I call Trent on my way home from a women's event at church.

After a single ring, it goes to voicemail.

That's weird. He must have accidentally hung up on me.

I call again.

One ring and straight to voicemail again.

What the? Huh. I sit there for a minute...

WAIT A SECOND. I SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE!! Trent is playing his stupid "Bloons Tower Defense Battles" mobile game...which is obviously way more important than my phone calls.

Before I continue this story, I'd like to point out that Trent and I have a pretty strict "don't call me more than twice unless it's an emergency" policy. Really we never even call twice, it's a "call once, text once" policy if we know the other person may not be able to get to their phone.

But I know for a fact that Trent is relaxing in front of the TV. No excuses home boy! I'm on to you!!

So I decide to be funny, and keep calling.

Call again. Single ring. Straight to voicemail.

Call again. Single ring. Straight to voicemail.

Call again. Single ring. Straight to voicemail.

At this point, I'm literally laughing out loud thinking of what a little punk move I'm pulling. He is going to answer and I'm going to tell him "hi".

My reason for calling is "hi".

So I call a 6TH time and guess who picks up??

Me, giggling "You little punk! Are you playing that stupid monkey balloon game!?!?"

"What!? NO! MAYBE!!!!"

"I caught you, you little sneak!"

"Boo! It took me a whole 10 minutes to get to that level! I've never gotten that far!!"

"Oh my gosh! I don't even.."

"Why did you call me 6 times!?!?"

"To mess with you!" more giggling. "I'm sorry, I just knew exactly what you were doing and it was too good for me to pass up!"

So then Trent pouts about how I ruined his chance at the greatest monkey balloon level he has ever reached.

Just a day in the life of some married folks.

Last week we had a date night, so we searched online for things to do in Topeka.

Our options were limited.

We ended up going to a free Jazz concert featuring Marilyn Maye, an 82 year old Jazz legend.

Just me, Trent, and a good 200 white haired individuals listening to some jazz.

This past weekend we spent some time with our Younglife kids at a weekend retreat at Youthfront's L-Bar-C (Lacygne) Camp.

Trent and I had both been to the camp in middle school, and you guys...they had the exact same carpet. That's just gross.

Other major life events that I have failed to blog about in the past few weeks:

-My nephew, Palmer turned one!

People say he looks like his uncle Trent!

-I accepted a position with WIBW Radio as a Digital Marketing Consultant almost 3 weeks ago! It is such a great fit and I'm so thankful for the quick turn around!

-My sister, Ruth is engaged!! We spent time visiting her in Springfield and trying on dresses. (NO PICTURES!)

-We celebrated Halloween as a Baseball Bat.

Also a Crocodile Hunter.

And a photo dump of my life from past few weeks....

Be blessed!

  1. Hi! Can you share where you got the "But the greatest of these is Love" framed pic? Love it! I also love the liquid eyeliner you shared on another post long ago...Use it all of the time, and it is the best!

    1. Hi Karen! It was a gift from my sister-in-law, but I believe she said it was from Hobby Lobby! Also, glad you like the eyeliner ;-) I still use it daily!

  2. Thank you! We have a Hobby Lobby nearby, so I am now on the hunt!
